DAWN A.WILLIAMS, LL.B., M.B.A.

Dawn is the Principal and founding attorney of Meridian Law. She has been a legal practitioner for over 24 years obtaining her LL.B. from the University of the West Indies, Barbados and Legal Education Certificate from Hugh Wooding Law School in 1998.

She has worked on a portfolio of IBCs, captive insurance companies and SRLs on behalf of mid-sized to Fortune 500 companies. She also worked on bond issues, local and international acquisitions, local real estate developments, condominium developments, conveyancing and mortgages on behalf of both corporate and financial institutions, and commercial transactions on behalf of clients in the Hotel, Telecommunications, Insurance and Banking industries. The areas of practice also include commercial litigation on behalf of clients in these various industries.

She holds a Masters in Finance and International Business from Fordham University, New York and worked in the Fixed Income Department of investment bank, Nomura Securities International, New York.

She has advised both local and regional authorities on securities exchange and regulatory issues and advised the Trinidad & Tobago Securities and Exchange Commission and appeared on its behalf in the BS&T take-over action in Barbados High Court. Ms Williams has also advised the local and regional exchanges on the development of capital markets in the region.

She is a member of Barbados International Business Association (BIBA), Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS), International Tax Planning Association (ITPA) and the International Bar Association (IBA). She is a member of the Committee established by Government reviewing legislation relating to protection of creditors and other related legislation. She is currently a Board member on the Barbados Tourism Investment Inc., the lead government tourism agency for facilitating investment in tourism and urban regeneration in Barbados. She is also one of the Founding Trustees of the Barbados International Business Association (BIBA) Charity which seeks to raise awareness amongst its members and various stakeholders on the promotion of among other things, health, education, sports, heritage, child welfare and community development.
