KASHAWN WOOD, LL.B., LL.M., (LEC)

Kashawn graduated from The University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus, Barbados in 2018 with a Bachelor of Laws Degree with First Class Honours. During his tenure he was the recipient of various awards, namely the Thorne de la Bastide Prize in Constitutional Law (2014), Dame Dr. Bernice Lake QC Scholarship in Constitutional Law (2014), 3rd Year Winner of the Clarke Gittens and Farmer Moot Court Competition (2017).

In 2017, he secured a place at the Hugh Wooding Law School and commenced study for his Legal Education Certificate.  Kashawn graduated from the Law School in 2019obtaining his Legal Education Certificate.   Kashawn was admitted to the Bar in Barbados in October 2020 and immediately joined the Chambers of Leslie F. Haynes, K.C. in Barbados. In that role, he gained valuable experience in several practice areas, including public law matters such as judicial review and constitutional actions, commercial matters, such as the incorporation of companies, liquidations, insolvency, oppression/derivative actions, debt collections, family law matters, personal injury matters, defamation, employment, non-contentious matters, inclusive of drafting wills and conveyancing.

Kashawn has appeared before the High Court, Court of Appeal, Caribbean Court of Justice and specialist tribunal. Kashawn completed postgraduate studies, earning a Master of Laws Degree in Corporate and Commercial Law from The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus.

Apart from his academic and professional pursuits, he is a member of the Barbados Bar Association and currently sits on the Association’s Rules Committee. Outside of law, he contributes to and served as a Director of the Optimist Club.
